Where do you keep your car?

MessageAuthor

Having read a number of posts recently re rust and the pros and cons of garages etc I am wondering as to how forum members store their cars

i just had to say that. i keep mine offroad uncovered , on a hard standing. it is a `99 reg so not too old as to worry about rust.

I voted Garage for the 850, however the 480 is left on the street.

Ive noted that posts on another thread have suggested that garages arent the perfect solution that many think, as in they can promote condensation and as a result rust.

I'll reply a second time now Ian ... Garaged every night , if its been out in the rain I allways dry it off . We are lucky to have the garage actually attached to our house , just a door from the kitchen . I think im one of only a few in our area that actually use the garage for the car , so many use them just for storing clutter !

I've never noticed a problem with condensation, could be that good through flow of ventilation helps, I've got 2 vents on the rear of the garage and on the barn doors. As capriman says, not putting the car away wet also helps. But then mine is very rarely out in the rain anyway.

RE: Where do you keep your car?

Well, depends how much clutter I have :D At the moment, I cannot fit a car into my double garage as I am storing furniture for a friend who is moving to Spain. Also, I think the builders were saving bricks when they built my garage as the C70 only just fits lengthwise. So, currently, the C70 lives on the drive, Passat Estate on private road right by the front door, and my wife's Probe parks in front of the house on the main road. With regards to storing in the garage, our tumble dryers are in the garage, so think this may lead to even more condensation, so is something I will have to think about I guess.
