hi everyone, i am a proud owner of a 740 gl like my username indicates and i have some problems. when i went on a ride in my friend's 740gl i noticed that he got a ticking light in the dashboard that tells you to put your seetbelt so i said why not me since i got another one at home so it's just a matter of unscewing, putting a small light bulb in and srewing it again in place. the thing is when i drove my vovlo again i noticed that the speedometer is dead and only when i use the kickdown and when the rpm of the engine is very high( i don't know how much since i don't have an rpm reader in my dashboard) did the needle move and it doesn't show a correct reading, will someone help me by sending any pics of the dashboard(and by dashboard i mean the rectangular thing where the speedometer and clock and temprature gauge... are, so i don't know if it's right to call it that but you got the idea) so i can see if i put the wires in correctly and everything, thanks.

First of all, the wiring connects only in one way. That is, all the connectors are of a different size and can only be fitted one way up. Thus, you have to check if all the connections are secure. If they're not, expect elements in the unit to fail. If you have to replace the small light bulbs in at the bottom of the unit, you can access them quite easily from underneath when you only remove the panel in front of the drivers legs. Only two screws and a plug. Cheers,

Thanks TFK, you're right about the wires that can be put only in one way but there is this one wire that is left(not like the others it is actualy one wire) that i don't know where to put, please help!!!
