[HOW TO] insert fx plugin in a return channel

MessageAuthor

Hello everybody, I have a reverb in a send/return setup who feeds several tracks in my project. I would like to insert different equalizer/high pass filters and settings in the reverb return channel for each different track (in order to adapt eq settings to each track affected by tonal changes caused by reverb). How can I do that? Thank you very much

Who's feeding what to who? Normally we have one track with a reverb plug on it, and we send from other tracks to it. That track doesn't normally get sent back to the tracks. Your wording is funny, but if you're doing it normally... You can't really EQ seperate tracks coming out of the verb because they're not seperate tracks anymore. ;) You can EQ them on the way in, though. The simplest way is to create an intermediary "conditioning" track for each of the tracks you think you need to EQ. Send from the actual instrument to this track. Use EQ or whatever else on this track, and then send it to the actual verb track. I would tend to use multichannel tracks for this though. Probably just drop ReaEQ on the sending track, have it output to some unused channels, and send those channels to 1/2 on the verb track. Or you could put all of the EQs on the verb track itself (before reverb), set to each affect a different pair of channels, then send from your tracks to those channels and sum all of the channels at the input of the reverb plug, but I think that would be harder to keep track of.

Here is one way: >>> -- set the number of channels on the Reverb track, -- add the EQs to the Reverb track, -- change the outputs of each EQ to a new pair of channels, -- Send those pairs of channels to the other tracks.

^^^ Sorry if I misunderstood you or ellof5446. There are 3 ReaEQs processing the same reverbed signal, each with different settings, and their outputs are sent to different tracks.

I know what you think you want and I'm pretty sure it's not going to get you what you actually want. Go ahead and give it a shot if you want. When it doesn't actually do what you thought it was going to do, go back and read my first reply.
